Joel Lane Museum House is Raleigh's oldest home that was built in the 1760s for Colonel Joel Lane, Raleigh's founding father. Representatives of the North Carolina Legislature met here in the 1790s and bought 1,000 acres / 404 hectares of Colonel Lane's plantation. Tours of the house and grounds are well worth the visit and only take 30 minutes.
